Transmittal Notice

The following policies have been issued by the Office of the President.  After
inserting these sections in Volume 1 of your department's Academic Personnel
Manual, please annotate any changes in the Table of Contents, then post this
transmittal notice or route it to persons who should be aware of policy in
these areas.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  (Section 510, Appendix B, Guidelines on Intercampus Recruiting,
     10/11/99.

     SUPERSEDES:  Appendix 510B is new.  RETAIN Section 510 (10/10/75) and
     Section 510A (4/19/74, revised 8/1/75).

     PURPOSE:  Emphasizes that the Chancellor of the recruiting campus must
     notify the other Chancellor of the intention to make the offer to a
     faculty member (information must provide the details of the offer,
     financial or otherwise and regardless of fund source, including proposed
     salary, any stipends or summer ninths, teaching responsibilities, and
     other recruitment incentives); clarifies the salary level that may be
     offered.  These guidelines shall be used in conjunction with Policy 510,
     Intercampus Transfers, and were previously announced by the Vice
     Provost--Academic Personnel in UCD directive 99-117, October 26, 1999.

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Section 670, Health Sciences Compensation Plan (pp.1-13)
     and Guidelines on Occasional Outside Professional Activities by Health
     Sciences Compensation Plan Participants (pp. 1-10), 11/23/99.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section 670, Health Sciences Compensation Plans, 5/1/81. 
     (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Provides new compensation plan approved by The Regents in July
     1999 and the associated guidelines issued by the President on November 23,      1999.

3.   DELETE from your department's manual:  Section 671, Medical School
     Clinical Compensation Plan, 1/1/97.  (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Superseded and replaced by new Section 670 (see above).
