After inserting these sections in your department's manual, please post this 
transmittal notice or route it to persons who should be aware of policy in 
these areas.

The following Universitywide policies have been issued by the Office of the 
President.  Please insert these in Volume 1, then annotate the changes in the 
APM Table of Contents.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  Section 358, Faculty Fellows Program, 6/26/00.

     SUPERSEDES:  New section.

     PURPOSE:  Describes program for mentored training and experience in the 
     design and conduct of instructional courses and research.  This program 
     enables the University to reduce class size, offer more courses, and allow 
     Ph.D. graduates with an interest in higher education to teach.

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Page 8 of Section 360, Librarian Series, and page 1 of 
     Appendix A, 8/22/00.

     SUPERSEDES:  Page 8 of Section 360 and page 1 of Appendix A, 10/20/97.  
     RETAIN the rest of the pages in Section 360 and Appendix A.  (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Revises APM-360-18-a and Appendix A to implement the transition 
     of librarians excluded from the collective bargaining unit (Unit 17) from 
     Scale 1 salaries to Scale 2 salaries in accordance with University 
     guidelines and campus procedures.

The  following UC Davis policies and procedures have been issued by the Office of 
the Chancellor.  Please insert these in Volume 2, then annotate the changes in 
the UCD Table of Contents.

3.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-191, Endowed Chairs, 7/11/00.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Policy & Procedure Manual Section 260-30, Endowed Chairs, 
     1/31/86.  (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Supplements Section APM-191 and constitutes the UCD policy and 
     procedures for the establishment and filling of endowed chairs and 
     professorships; provides guidelines for the use of endowment income for 
     research programs.

4.   DELETE:  Section UCD Appendix I-B, Recognition of Academic and 
     Administrative Officer Retirees, 6/12/95.  (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  This section is no longer needed. Information regarding 
     conferring emeritus/emerita status is available in APM-120, Emeritus 
     Titles; UCD-120, Conferral of Emeritus Status on Non-Senate Academic 
     Appointees and Academic Administrative Officers; DA 2109, Delegation of 
     Authority--To Approve Conferral of Emeritus Status on Non-Academic 
     Personnel; and Emeritus Status Guidelines for Non-Academic Personnel.

5.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-690, Academic Salary Scales, 10/1/00.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-690, 10/1/98.  (RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Updates the Web link (http://manuals.ucdavis.edu/apm/690.htm) 
     to the Universitywide and UC Davis academic salary scales.
