After inserting these sections in your department's manual, please post this transmittal notice or route it to persons who should be aware of policy in these areas.

The following Universitywide policies have been issued by the Office of the President. Please insert these in Volume 1, then annotate the changes in the APM Table of Contents.
1. TRANSMITTED: APM-015, The Faculty Code of Conduct, 1/1/02.
SUPERSEDES: APM-015 (entire section), Faculty Conduct and Administration of Discipline, Including the Faculty Code of Conduct, revised 8/1/92.
PURPOSE: Sets forth professional rights of faculty, both general and ethical principles for faculty and examples of unacceptable faculty conduct, and rules and recommendations for the enforcement of the Faculty Code.
2. TRANSMITTED: APM-016, University Policy on Faculty Conduct and the Administration of Discipline, 1/1/02.
SUPERSEDES: New section.
PURPOSE: Includes general policy regarding faculty discipline; specifies the penalties that may be imposed for violations of the Faculty Code of Conduct, what types of faculty behaviors are covered under the Faculty Code, and which academic personnel are governed by the Faculty Code.
3. TRANSMITTED: APM-035, Affirmative Action and Nondiscrimination in Employment, 6/21/02.
SUPERSEDES: APM-035, Interim Policy on Affirmative Action and Nondiscrimination in Employment, 1/1/96. KEEP Appendix A, Policy on Sexual Harassment and Complaint Resolution Procedures, 4/23/92, effective 7/1/93.
PURPOSE: Updates to conform with the "University of California Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy Regarding Academic and Staff Employment" and "Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy Statement for University of California Publications Regarding Employment Practices," which have been revised to add a new group of veterans ("recently separated veterans") covered by nondiscrimination and affirmative action requirements, to conform with an amendment to the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (see http://www.ucop.edu/ucophome/coordrev/policy/6-21-02.html).
4. TRANSMITTED: APM-135, Security of Employment, 7/26/02.
SUPERSEDES: APM-135 (entire section), revised 11/11/81, 12/14/00.
PURPOSE: Updates consistent with changes to APM-285 (see number 6, below).
5. TRANSMITTED: APM-210, Review and Appraisal Committees, pages 15-28. Only paragraph APM-210-3 (pages 15-17, 7/26/02) is revised.
SUPERSEDES: APM-210, pages 15-26. KEEP pages i-ii and 1-14.
PURPOSE: Updates 210-3, Instructions to Review Committees, pages 15-17, consistent with changes to APM-285 (see number 6, below).
6. TRANSMITTED: APM-285, Lecturer with Security of Employment Series, 7/26/02.
SUPERSEDES: New section.
PURPOSE: Incorporates the revision to Standing Order 105.1 of The Regents to extend Senate membership to full-time faculty in the titles of Lecturers with Potential for Security (PSOE) and Senior Lecturers with PSOE.
The following UC Davis policy and procedure section has been issued by the Office of the Chancellor. Please insert this in Volume 2, then annotate the change in the UCD Table of Contents.
7. TRANSMITTED: UCD-620, Policies and Procedures for the Administration of Off-Scale Salaries, 5/2/02.
SUPERSEDES: UCD-620, 7/1/94.
PURPOSE: Eliminates review of an off-scale salary at Professor, Step III, and again in three years at Step V, as long as the off-scale recipient is making normal progress.
