The following Universitywide policies have been issued by the Office of the President. Please insert these in Volume 1, then annotate the changes in the APM Table of Contents.

1. TRANSMITTED: APM-025, Conflict of Commitment and Outside Activities of Faculty Members, and Appendices A-C, 7/1/01.

SUPERSEDES: APM-025, Outside Professional Activities of Faculty Members, 8/16/95, rev. 7/1/96.

PURPOSE: Provides guidelines for addressing potential conflicts of commitment, while allowing faculty to engage in a wide array of outside activities without unnecessary limitations; requires faculty to obtain approval before engaging in certain specified types of activities and to file an annual report.

2. TRANSMITTED: APM-190, Appendix E, Program Description Salary Differential Housing Allowance Program, 4/17/01.

SUPERSEDES: APM-190, Appendix E, 3/15/99.

PURPOSE: Extends the payout period from a maximum of five years to ten years for disbursements under the Salary Differential Housing Allowance Program.

3. TRANSMITTED: APM-190, Appendix G, Program Description Retirement Contributions on Academic Appointee Summer Salary, 4/10/01, effective 7/1/01.

PURPOSE: New section; describes policy on retirement contributions on those summer earnings approved by The Regents.

4. TRANSMITTED: APM-375, Academic Coordinator Titles, and Appendix A, 7/1/01.

SUPERSEDES: APM-375, 9/1/83, rev. 12/14/00.

PURPOSE: Provides new policy and salary scales to provide campuses greater flexibility in appointments to Academic Coordinator titles. Transition guidelines and the old and new salary scales are available on the Web at http://www.ucop.edu/acadadv/acadpers/acadcoord.html.

5. TRANSMITTED: APM-662, Additional Compensation/Additional Teaching, and Appendices B-1 and B-2, 7/1/01.

SUPERSEDES: APM-662, Appendices B-1 and B-2.

RETAIN: Appendices A-1, A-2, A-3, B-3, B-4.

PURPOSE: Focuses on regulating the amount of time devoted to additional teaching rather than on the amount of compensation earned.

6. TRANSMITTED: APM-740, Leaves of Absence/Sabbatical Leaves, pages iii-iv (index) and 11-14 (policy), 7/1/01.

SUPERSEDES: APM-740, pages iii-iv (index) and 11-15 (policy).

RETAIN: Pages i-ii and v (index); 1-10 (policy), Table A, Charts I-IV, and Appendices A-B.

PURPOSE: Revises APM-740-19 to allow faculty to engage in compensated outside activities during sabbatical leaves to the same extent that they are allowed to do so during the academic term.

7. TRANSMITTED: APM-759, Leaves of Absence/Leaves Without Pay, 12/14/00.

SUPERSEDES: APM-759, 11/1/65, rev. 7/1/74.

PURPOSE: Technical changes to update the policy; removes APM-759-99 regarding forms.

The following UC Davis policy/procedure has been issued by the Office of the Chancellor. Please insert this section in Volume 2, then annotate the change in the UCD Table of Contents.

8. TRANSMITTED: UCD-340B, Appointment and Promotion of University Extension Teachers, 3/8/01.

PURPOSE: New section; provides policy and criteria regarding appointment and promotion of University Extension Teachers.
