Transmittal Notice

The attached materials should be inserted in the "Campus 
Procedures" binder of your department's Academic Personnel Manual. 
These sections have been approved by the Provost and Executive 
Vice Chancellor.  After inserting these sections in your manual, 
please post this transmittal notice or route it to persons who 
should be aware of policy in these areas.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  UCD Policies and Procedures Table of Contents.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Policies and Procedures Table of Contents,
     dated 4/14/94.

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-145, Non-Senate Layoff Policy.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-145, dated 12/22/82.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating purposes; updates
     names of organizational units and position titles.

3.   TRANSMITTED:  UCD Appendix I-B, Recognition of Academic and
     Administrative Officer Retirees.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Appendix I-B, dated 9/8/87.

     PURPOSE:  Updates unit name changes; reflects that news
     releases for retirees are no longer distributed; revises
     information regarding parking permits, consistent with
     Policy & Procedure Manual Section 360-05; editorial
     revisions.

4.   DELETE from your manual:  Section UCD-200, Mandatory
     Retirement, dated 4/12/89.

     PURPOSE:  Mandatory retirement at the University of
     California was eliminated in 1992 in accordance with the Age
     Discrimination in Employment Amendments of 1986.

5.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-220H, Academic Review Process--Joint
     Appointments.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-220H, dated 4/2/84.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating; updates position
     titles and unit names; minor editorial revisions.

6.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-240, Appointment and Review of Deans.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-240, dated 5/11/90.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating; updates position
     titles and unit names; minor editorial revisions.

7.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-245A, Appointment and Review of
     Department Chairpersons, and Exhibit A.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-245, dated 5/11/90.

     PURPOSE:  Includes duties of clinical department
     chairpersons (Exhibit A); updates position titles and unit
     names; minor editorial revisions.

8.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-287A, Lecturers and Senior Lecturers,
     and Exhibits A-H.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-287A and Exhibits A-H, dated
     4/12/89.

     PURPOSE:  Updates names of organizational units and position
     titles; reflects changes in review/approval chart (Exhibit
     A), consistent with UCD Appendix II-E, Appointment and
     Reappointment of Unit 18 Members; updates title series
     (Exhibit B); updates checklist (Exhibit G), consistent with
     changes previously made to Section UCD-220 regarding copies
     of recommendations; minor editorial revisions.

9.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-287B, Merit Increases for Lecturers
     and Senior Lecturers.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-287B, dated 2/17/88.

     PURPOSE:  Minor revisions for manual updating; updates names
     of organizational units and position titles.

10.  TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-290, Regents' Professors and
     Lecturers, and Exhibits A and B.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-290 and Exhibits A and B, dated
     5/11/90.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating; updates position
     titles and unit names; minor editorial revisions.

11.  TRANSMITTED:  UCD Appendix II-A, Joint Appointments and Faculty
     Exchanges.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Appendix II-A, dated 5/11/90.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating; minor editorial
     revisions.

12.  TRANSMITTED:  UCD Appendix II-E, Appointment and Reappointment
     of Unit 18 Members, and Exhibits A and B.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Appendix II-E and Exhibits A and B, dated
     4/12/89.

     PURPOSE:  Distinguishes between reappointment procedures for
     2nd, 4th, and 6th years, which follow the same procedures as
     initial appointment, and 3rd and 5th years; updates names of
     organizational units and position titles; updates title
     series (Exhibit A); minor editorial revisions.

13.  TRANSMITTED:  UCD Appendix III-A, Moving and Removal Expenses,
     and Exhibits A-D.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Appendix III-A and Exhibits A-D, dated
     10/10/88.

     PURPOSE:  Reviewed for manual updating; revises position
     titles and unit names; updates forms/exhibits; minor
     editorial revisions.

14.  TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-666, Additional Compensation/Lectures
     and Similar Services.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-666, dated 9/8/87.

     PURPOSE:  Reflects change in maximum amount of honorarium
     payment from $500 to $1,000, as announced in UCD directive
     95-032, issued 3/3/95 by Office of the Provost; updates
     position titles and unit names.
