ACADEMIC PERSONNEL MANUAL Transmittal Notice 10/6/95
Attached are the academic salary scales for the 1995-96 year. These scales reflect the range and parity adjustments as outlined below: 1. A cumulative 3% parity/range adjustment was applied to the Professor series (including Professors in Residence, Adjunct Professors, Professors of Clinical _____, Clinical Professor series), the Agronomist series, and Lecturers with Security of Employment. Each salary page reflects the cumulative range and parity adjustments, rounded to the nearest $100. 2. A cumulative 3% parity/range adjustment was applied to Unit 18 appointees in accordance with Article 22A of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Non-Senate Instructional Unit (titles include Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Supervisors of Teacher Education, and Nursery School Teachers). For Lecturers and Nursery School Teachers, there is a separate Academic Standard Table of Pay Rates (pages 23-25) which reflects the cumulative range and parity adjustments in the third set of columns on those pages. 3. A cumulative 3% parity/range adjustment was applied to the per course stipend rates for faculty on VERIP recall. 4. All other academic salary scales have been range adjusted by 1.5%, across-the-board, for all ranks and steps. 5. A cumulative 3% parity/range adjustment was applied to Above-scale faculty salaries. 6. A cumulative 3% parity/range adjustment was applied to the 9-month Professional Research scales (pages 17 and 18) because these scales are applicable ONLY for regular 9-month professorial appointees who receive additional summer compensation or who temporarily buy-out a percentage of their regular appointment with grant funding. No other research titles received the parity adjustment. A couple of notes relating to those salary scales for titles whose salaries are increased by both a range and a parity adjustment: * To make them easier to read, we have altered the professorial salary scales we received from the Office of the President, and the Lecturer with Security of Employment scales for Davis (page 15A) so that they reflect only the 1994-95 salaries (which took effect on January 1, 1995) and the new 3% range and parity adjusted salaries effective October 1, 1995. * The Academic Standard Table of Payrates for members of Unit 18, and the salary scale for Supervisors of Teacher Education display (for historical purposes only) the 1.5% range adjustment, in addition to the cumulative range- and parity-adjusted salaries. The last set of columns on those pages reflect this total and are the applicable salaries to be used beginning October 1, 1995. For all titles (except the pages we have altered), the current salaries are identified as "Scale 10-1-94". Please remember that these salaries were not in place until January 1, 1995, due to delayed implementation as a result of the Anderson and Kronenberg settlements on the 1991 delayed merits.
