    TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-340, Appointment and Promotion of 
    Continuing Education Specialists, and Exhibit A.

    SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-340 and Exhibit A, dated 5/30/91.

    PURPOSE:  Provides general description of the series (340-4);
    expands criteria to reflect more detailed information on 
    academic planning, curriculum development, program 
    administration, marketing, human resource management, and 
    leadership; condenses in general terms the criteria for ranks 
    within series; updates unit names and position titles.
