Transmittal Notice

The following policies have been issued by the Office of the
President.  After inserting these sections in Volume 1 of your
department's Academic Personnel Manual, please post this
transmittal notice or route it to persons who should be aware of
policy in these areas.

1.  TRANSMITTED:  APM 310, Professional Research Series, pages 1
    (9/1/62) and 2 (1/13/97).

    SUPERSEDES:  APM 310, pages 1 (9/1/62) and 2 (2/1/77). 
    (RETAIN pages 3-5.)

    PURPOSE:  APM 310-12(a) permits the Chancellor to delegate
    authority for granting exceptions to the criteria for the
    appointment and promotion of professional researchers who do
    not possess a doctorate.

2.  TRANSMITTED:  APM 380, Faculty Consultant, dated 1/13/97.

    SUPERSEDES:  APM 380, dated 9/1/62.

    PURPOSE:  APM 380-24 permits the Chancellor to delegate
    authority for the appointment of faculty consultants.

3.  TRANSMITTED:  APM 560, Removal Expenses/General, pages 1-2
    (4/11/66), 3 (1/13/97), and 4 (9/18/79).

    SUPERSEDES:  APM 560, pages 1-2 (4/11/66), 3 (8/3/67), and 4
    (9/18/79).

    PURPOSE:  APM 560-24 permits the Chancellor to delegate
    authority for payment of removal expenses for eligible
    academic appointees.
