The attached materials should be inserted in the "Campus
Procedures" binder of your department's Academic Personnel
Manual.  These sections have been approved by the Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor.  After inserting these sections in
your manual, please post this transmittal notice or route it to
persons who should be aware of policy in these areas.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  UCD Policies and Procedures Table of Contents.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Policies and Procedures Table of Contents,
     dated 6/12/95.

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-220I, School of Medicine:  Use of
     Fractional FTEs for Full-Time Appointments.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-220I, dated 6/7/91.

     PURPOSE:  Minor corrections for manual updating.

3.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-530, Recruitment and Appointment
     of Aliens (Noncitizens).

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-530 and Exhibit A, dated 10/10/86.

     PURPOSE:  Extensive revisions to reflect changes in Federal
     regulations, including visa classifications and conditions,
     forms, documentation, and procedures; updates responsibili-
     ties of various parties; describes the fee-for-service
     structure for S.I.S.S.; provides updated references; deletes
     Exhibit A, Synopsis of Visa Information, which is available
     in Policy & Procedure Manual Section 380-64.

4.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-660, Additional Summer
     Compensation.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-660, dated 6/7/91.

     PURPOSE:  Changes use of terms "9-month" and "11-month"
     appointments to "academic-year" and "fiscal-year,"
     consistent with Universitywide practice; deletes references
     to Retirement Benefit Allowance (RBA) on the PAF; includes
     requirement for fiscal-year appointees to report vacation
     taken when summer compensation is earned, consistent with
     University policy and as announced in UCD directive 95-106.

5.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-730, Vacation--Fiscal-Year
     Appointees.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-730, Vacation--11-Month Appointees,
     dated 6/7/91.

     PURPOSE:  Changes use of terms "9-month" and "11-month"
     appointments to "academic-year" and "fiscal-year,"
     consistent with Universitywide practice; updates references;
     minor editorial revisions.
