Transmittal Notice
3/23/98

The attached materials should be inserted in the "Campus
Procedures" binder of your department's Academic Personnel
Manual. These sections have been approved by the Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor.  After inserting these sections in
your manual, please annotate the Table of Contents to reflect the
changes, then post this transmittal notice or route it to persons
who should be aware of policy in these areas.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-112, Academic Titles--Alphabetical
     Sequence.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-112, dated 6/7/91. 
     (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Adds Unit 18 title codes with 3-year appointment
     contract; deletes unused Acting Instructor titles; changes
     "9-month" to "academic year" and "11-month" to "fiscal
     year."

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-113, Academic Titles, Title Code
     Sequence.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-113, dated 6/7/91. 
     (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Adds Unit 18 title codes with 3-year appointment
     contract; deletes unused Acting Instructor titles; changes

3.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-500, Academic Recruitment
     Guidelines, and Exhibits A-G.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-500 and Exhibits A-G, dated
     4/14/94.  (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Minor revisions to wording consistent with
     Regents' Resolution SP-2; updates position titles and unit
     names; updates procedures; adds "alleviate a critical,
     ongoing need, particularly in the area of patient care" to
     listed criteria for which recruitment waiver may be
     requested; updates nondiscrimination policy statement
     (Exhibit C), as announced in UCD directive 97-032.

4.   DELETE from your manual:  Section UCD-670, Health Sciences
     Salary Disclosure, and Exhibit A, dated 1/11/91.

     PURPOSE:  Deletes section that provides payroll instructions
     on recharging salary for Health Sciences faculty members
     through salary disclosure.  These specific payroll
     instructions are provided to departments in the School of
     Medicine by the Dean.

5.   TRANSMITTED:  UCD Appendix IV-A, Administration of the
     Business/Management and Engineering Salary Plan.

     SUPERSEDES:  UCD Appendix IV-A, dated 6/23/93. 
     (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Revises language to clarify joint appointments.
