Transmittal Notice

The attached materials should be inserted in the "Campus
Procedures" binder of your department's Academic Personnel Manual. 
These sections have been approved by the Provost and Executive Vice
Chancellor.  After inserting these sections in your manual, please
annotate the Table of Contents to reflect the changes, then post
this transmittal notice or route it to persons who should be aware
of policy in these areas.

1.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-320, Appointment and Promotion of
     Agronomists in the AES Series, and Exhibit A, dated 11/6/98.

     SUPERSEDES:  New section.

     PURPOSE:  Provides UCD policies and procedures for appointment
     and advancement in the Agronomist (_____ in the Agricultural
     Experiment Station) series.

2.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-370, Appointment and Promotion of
     Academic Administrators, dated 10/14/98.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-370, dated 6/27/90.  (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Updates composition and appointment of standing
     review committee; updates position titles and unit names.

3.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-375, Academic Coordinator Series,
     and Exhibit A, dated 9/25/98.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-375, dated 9/8/89. (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Revised to provide more flexible guidelines for
     ranks within the series for departments to use in developing
     position descriptions and reviewing incumbents for merit and
     promotion; updates composition of the standing review
     committee for personnel actions; update position titles and
     unit names; provides chart to illustrate criteria for Academic
     Coordinator ranks (Exhibit A).

4.   TRANSMITTED:  Section UCD-690, Academic Salary Scales, dated 10/1/98.

     SUPERSEDES:  Section UCD-690, dated 11/1/97. (DISCARD/RECYCLE.)

     PURPOSE:  Provides World Wide Web location for academic salary
     scales, which are no longer distributed campuswide in hard
     copy.  Refer to UCD Directive 98-113 for details regarding the
     1998-99 range/parity adjustment.
