The attached UCD Policy & Procedure Manual sections have been approved by the appropriate vice chancellor and by the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. After inserting these sections in your manual, please annotate the Table of Contents to reflect the changes, then post or circulate this transmittal notice so employees will be aware of these policies. PURPOSE: Provides updated organizational chart for UCD administration. 2. TRANSMITTED: Section 280-05, Procedures for Student Complaints of Prohibited Discrimination of Arbitrary Treatment, 9/25/98. PURPOSE: Extensive revisions to streamline and clarify the process, consistent with task force recommendations: revises definition of "discriminatory actions" to include arbitrary treatment; encourages mediation and informal resolution; clarifies scope of policy; revises informal process, so that Student Judicial Affairs provides advice, referrals, and conciliation services, but not investigation; provides 30 days for informal process; provides for directly filing formal complaints with assistant/associate vice chancellor/dean for student matters in the functional area; changes time limit for administrative review from 30 to 45 days; requires reviewers and hearing officers to be trained and impartial; grants authority to hearing officer to consult Campus Counsel (formerly King Hall faculty) regarding procedural issues, and to recommend changes to policy, procedure, practices, or guidelines; provides for final decision by vice chancellor/dean (formerly the Chancellor); clarifies available remedies; updates references. 3.
