PURPOSE: Corrects beginning day of Winter Quarter to Thursday, January 2. 4. TRANSMITTED: Section 200-05, Academic and Administrative Calendar, for five years: 1997-98 1998-99 1999-2000 2000-01 2001-02 SUPERSEDES: New sections. 5. TRANSMITTED: Section 200-06, Academic and Administrative Report Deadlines. SUPERSEDES: New section. PURPOSE: Provides UCD personnel with list of deadlines for various academic, administrative, and fiscal reports required during 1996-97 so they may better plan for possible workload fluctuations. 6. TRANSMITTED: Section 290-05, Campus Emergency Policy. SUPERSEDES: Section 290-05 and Exhibits A and B, dated 3/26/91. PURPOSE: Extensive revision to comply with State legislation on emergency preparedness and management; defines Disaster Policy Planning Group, which directs campus emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts; redefines "emergency responders" and "support departments"; updates information required in department emergency response plans; deletes details of responsibilities and actions of specific response units, which are now included in the campus Emergency Operations Plan; updates references; deletes exhibits. 7. TRANSMITTED: Section 310-45, Guidelines for Multimedia Productions of University Programs and Activities. SUPERSEDES: Section 310-45, dated 1/30/87. PURPOSE: Includes computer technologies that are within scope of guidelines; specifies that guidelines do not apply to UCD units that produce multimedia programs for instructional purposes; editorial revisions for clarity. 8. TRANSMITTED: Section 340-06, State Sales and Use Tax Collections, and Exhibit A. SUPERSEDES: Section 340-06 and Exhibit A, dated 11/10/89. PURPOSE: Defines "district tax"; clarifies that all carbonated beverages are taxable; updates unit names; revises Exhibit A, providing tax rates for additional counties and updating examples of computation of sales tax. 9. PURPOSE: Specifies that the department head is responsible for complying with Section 380-20, Employee Driving Records; describes insurance provided through the University's self- insurance program, and states that in cases where damage is due to operator's misuse or carelessness, the department may require the operator to reimburse the University; provides for requests for farm equipment on long-term assignment to be made by telephone or memo, and eliminates the request form (Exhibit A); updates unit names. 10. PURPOSE: Extensive revisions to reflect simplified policy and procedure for computing and software acquisitions; deletes the $25,000 limit, which required additional documentation for acquisitions; describes updated policy regarding recommended computing plans, network-related acquisitions, administration-related acquisitions, review and approval requirements, ownership of equipment, and software licensing; eliminates the Computing Acquisition Proposal form (Exhibit A); provides updated guidelines for departmental consideration prior to equipment/software acquisition; editorial revisions for clarity. 11. TRANSMITTED: Section 380-76, Honorarium Payments, and Exhibits A-C. SUPERSEDES: Section 380-76 and Exhibits A-C, dated 6/27/89. PURPOSE: Updates consistent with changes to the UC Accounting Manual; includes payment for an appraisal of a manuscript for the University Press as an honorarium; clarifies information regarding non-honorarium transactions as faculty consultant; specifies that payments to University employees are subject to withholding for Federal and State income taxes and Social Security taxes; states that honorarium payments to nonresident aliens with a B visa are made on an exception basis only; updates references.
