APM 035, Affirmative Action and Nondiscrimination in Employment, 10/13/08.
Revised to incorporate changes recently made to the University of California Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy Regarding Academic and Staff Employment. Provides consistency between University policy and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994; provides consistency with recently published regulations that implement the Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002; and prohibits retaliation against any employee or person seeking employment for filing a complaint of discrimination or harassment pursuant to the University's nondiscrimination in employment policies, or against a person who assists someone with a complaint of discrimination or harassment, or who participates in any manner in an investigation or resolution of a complaint of discrimination or harassment.

APM 220, Professor Series, 9/2/08.
220-18-b(4) updated to clarify criteria by which advancement to Step VI occurs to involve "an overall career review and will be granted on evidence of sustained and continuing excellence in each of the following three categories: (1) scholarship or creative achievement, (2) University teaching, and (3) service. Above and beyond that, great academic distinction, recognized nationally, will be required in scholarly or creative achievement or teaching. 220-85-b updated to correct reference to 220-80-g.

APM 335, Cooperative Extension Advisor Series, 9/2/08.
Criteria requiring possession of a bachelor's or equivalent degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience was removed.

APM 740, Leaves of Absence/Sabbatical Leaves, 9/2/08.
The following titles added to the list of titles eligible to qualify for sabbatical leave service: Laboratory Director, Deputy Laboratory Director, Associate Laboratory Director.

APM Table of Contents for Universitywide Policies and UCD Procedures, 6/13/08.
Technical update: Added new policies APM 080, Medical Separation and APM 711, Reasonable Accommodation for Academic Appointees with Disabilities to the APM Table of Contents.

APM 080, Medical Separation, 7/1/08.
New; outlines the process for medical separation of academic appointees who have exhausted periods of leave and continue to be unable to work for health reasons, and for whom reasonable accommodation is not possible; provides a means to handle this issue in a sensitive and respectful manner by establishing a process that keeps such cases distinct from disciplinary actions resulting from misconduct or incompetent performance.

APM 710, Leaves of Absence/Sick Leave/Medical Leave, 7/1/08.
Revision; adds new section APM 710-11, which establishes a maximum of paid medical leave to be granted to eligible faculty members who do not accrue sick leave, in cases of personal illness, injury or disability; clarifies and expands the list of academic titles eligible to accrue sick leave, as well as expanding sick leave accrual to appointees in those titles who hold academic year appointments; provides guidelines for how and when departments should request medical information in support of requests for sick and paid medical leave.

APM 711, Reasonable Accommodation for Academic Appointees with Disabilities, 7/1/08.
New; establishes systemwide policy governing the interactive process to determine reasonable accommodation for otherwise qualified academic appointees with disabilities, as required for compliance with federal and California law-- specifically, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).

Removes additional compensation threshold of 10% of base salary; updates payment approval procedures; updates references.

UCD Appendix IV-A, Administration of the Business/Economics and Engineering Salary Plan, 5/13/08.
Updates section to add Economics as an element of the plan; updates salary plan name.

UCD-120, Emeritus Titles, 5/13/08.
Removes requirement that recommendations be forwarded three months before retirement; allows recommendation to be forwarded one month prior to or any time following retirement; updates position titles; includes procedure for informing Academic Senate, Dean, and President of Emeriti Association of decisions conferring status; removes reference to PAF; removes obsolete reference.
