TRANSMITTAL NOTICE--UCD POLICY & PROCEDURE MANUAL
The attached UCD Policy & Procedure Manual sections have been approved by the appropriate vice chancellor and by the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor. After inserting these sections in your manual, please post or circulate this transmittal notice so employees will be aware of these policies. PURPOSE: Adds department responsibility to pay fines for noncompliance
with health/safety or environmental laws or regulations, to review the
safety program and implement changes as necessary, and to review
departmental illnesses, accidents, and injuries at least annually; adds
principal investigator/supervisor responsibility to assure effective
implementation and enforcement of safety program, to assure all personnel
(employees, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scientists, students) are trained
on hazards, and to pay fines resulting from noncompliance; states
employee/student responsibility to report all injuries and accidents to
supervisors; includes details of safety management program requirements in
the text and deletes Exhibit B; makes editorial and format revisions for
clarity and readability; updates references.

PURPOSE: Outlines policy and procedure to reduce work-related repetitive
motion injuries in accordance with Cal/OSHA regulations.

D, Mileage Reimbursement Rates
for Privately Owned Vehicles and Aircraft, 1/1/02.

PURPOSE: Changes standard mileage reimbursement rate consistent with IRS
and University policy effective 1/1/02 (previously announced in UCD
directive 01-182).

PURPOSE: Updates bus schedules; specifies that reservations are held
until 5 minutes from departure, then standby passengers may board; requires
that materials transported on the bus carry the name and telephone number of
the person who will pick up the materials; updates exhibits; editorial
revisions for clarity.

Housestaff Budgeting and Enrollment, 9/3/01.
SUPERSEDES: Section 330-20X3, 4/1/86. This section was previously issued
to a limited number of involved departments, so most departments will not
have this in their manual.
PURPOSE: Updates procedures consistent with current practice; updates
unit names; minor editorial revisions for clarity.
11. TRANSMITTED: Section
330-80, Exhibit A, Maximum Rates for
Entertainment, 9/1/01.
SUPERSEDES: Section 330-80, Exhibit A only, 4/21/99.
PURPOSE: Changes maximum allowable amount for meals consistent with
University policy effective 9/1/01 (previously announced in UCD directive
01-107, 8/10/01).
12. TRANSMITTED: Section
350-22, Purchasing Cards, 10/19/01.
SUPERSEDES: New section.
PURPOSE: Outlines policy and procedures governing use of purchasing cards
to purchase selected materials based on the delegated purchase authorities
for direct departmental purchases.
13. TRANSMITTED: Section
380-30, Rehire of Retirees, 12/7/01.
SUPERSEDES: Section 380-30, 2/8/99.
PURPOSE: Changes title of section; changes rules regarding rehire of
retirees to comply with new "limited appointments" provisions of
personnel policy and retirement plans; deletes rules that have been
eliminated by the retirement system; deletes references to University PERS
members as nearly all of them have retired; updates the "prior
policies" section to show that all VERIP limits have ended; made
editorial changes to streamline and simplify.
